Welcome Home, Ben!

Wow, we've had a busy week.

Last Monday, October 8, we were admitted to the hospital to induce labor. Mike and I arrived at 5:30 am and by about 9:30, they started my drip to increase contractions. (I was already having some, but they were mild.) Finally, at 10:30 pm, I was fully dilated and we pushed for about an hour before the dr. decided Ben wasn't making any progress, and his heart rate was a bit higher than she wanted. At that point, a c-section became our best option, to make sure Ben was gonna be ok.

At 12:21 am, Tuesday, October 9, Benjamin Samuel was born, weighing in at 9 lbs, 2.5 oz. He was 21.5 in. long and had a great big head, measuring in at 13.75 inches. No wonder he didn't wanna come out. Ben's uncle B (Mike's cousin Bryan) was so proud of his big noggin. (It doesn't really look that big.)

Ben's Room

Well, we finally got Ben's Room painted. Tonya (my sister) and MacKenzie (my niece) came over and helped me out, reaching places I couldn't. The room is still a mess, but I figured I'd at least post his new wall color. When Mike gets home from Ohio, I'll have him move things out and into the room so that it looks more like a nursery.

The Third Trimester

This week was my first appointment for the 3rd trimester. Beginning now, I'll have an appointment every 2 weeks and an ultra sound every time. The ultrasonographers are really nice and say they don't mind printing me out a 3D picture if they can get one, so those will follow.

This week Ben has measured just over 3 lbs, which is a little ahead of schedule, but they don't think he's on course to be a huge baby.

For some reason, I seem to have forgotten my original scan settings and these pictures aren't as clear as the last ones.

Ben is a flexible little boy. Here he is with his toes up to his eyebrows.

This one is a little more difficult to figure out. I'm not sure if the large object by his face is the umbilical cord or still his leg, but the two appendages above his eye are fingers. Here, his eyes are partially open, and his mouth is open.

Welcome to Ben's Blog!

Well, I'm gonna copycat Angie, who copied her friend Allison, and here is Ben's Blog! We'll see if I can actually keep up with such a thing. Here goes...

Today is week 26 and 4 days. Ultrasounds say we're having a boy, who we plan on naming Benjamin. We haven't decided on a middle name yet, although we're trying to think of a good one. Who knows, though. He may come out and just really not be a Ben, so we're staying open-minded.

The purpose of this blog is to post pictures and give updates for those who won't see him much, like Uncle Bob in Texas. For a while, there may not be many updates, and won't be many pictures because, of course, Ben isn't here yet.
